Later, after realizing what Luz's messages truly meant, Amity tries to console Hunter by telling him that there are people out there who won't make him feel worthless, and offers him her hand. However, Hunter sees the key dangling from her neck and attempts to grab it, resulting in a fight between the duo. Hunter and Amity eventually come to a stalemate, but Amity is forced to hand the key over when Hunter threatens Luz's safety. Hunter appreciates Amity for doing so, and flies away without realizing Amity has actually broken the key, leaking half the Titan's Blood onto her glove.
Coven
While in hiding from the Emperor's Coven, Hunter donned his sports uniform again alongside a blue cloak with red patches, albeit the clothes had become tattered and dirty. In the epilogue to "Watching and Dreaming", Hunter's hair has grown out slightly further, and he no longer has bags under his eyes. Additionally, he has a red tattoo of a cardinal on his right arm where his coven sigil had previously been, to symbolize Flapjack. The following time that they meet, Hunter has become somewhat of an informant to Luz, albeit reluctantly, as he shows little interest in helping her, but begins to trust her more when he begins questioning his own decisions and realizing that she’s trying to help him.
Luz Noceda
In "Hunting Palismen", he begs Emperor Belos to let him help him with his declining condition using wild magic, which his uncle immediately shuts down, stating that wild magic is the reason that their family is gone and instead sends him out to find more palismen after depleting their resources. The Golden Guard abducts the tree filled with palismen at Hexside, unknowingly kidnaping Luz in the process, who then surprises him by rocketing him off of his own ship with a fire glyph, only to for him to teleport back where he captures Luz, who sends his staff flying, and soon crash lands in Latissa because of Kikimora. Hunter, like the many Golden Guards before him, was created with the likeness of Belos' late older brother, Caleb Wittebane, and Inner Belos states he is the closest to his likeness of any grimwalker Belos created.[1][3] He is a humanoid boy sharing the physical characteristics of a witch, such as pointed ears. He has a fair complexion, a slightly hooked nose, dark magenta eyes, thick black eyebrows, a gap between his front teeth, bags under his eyes, and ash-blond hair that is shaved below the top, with a long, jagged forelock. He has a notch on his left ear and scars on his right cheek, upper left arm, two overlapping on his right kneecap (forming an X-shape), and one on his left calf. He is described as scrawny by Amity in "Eclipse Lake", although he has a larger build compared to characters like Luz, possibly because he is slightly older than them.
Season 3
Kikimora (voiced by Mela Lee) is Belos' minion and essentially his secretary, often fighting people or giving out orders. Her hair resembles a hand clinging onto her head, and she wears a jacket that covers her mouth; a glimpse of her mouth is shown in "Clouds on the Horizon", showing she has two teeth. She rarely appears in season one, often contacting members of the Emperor's Coven.
Though Emperor Belos was somewhat familiarly attached to Hunter, the genuineness of this relationship is, in fact, a pretense Belos puts in order to keep Hunter devoted to him. After learning what he is, Hunter camps out at Hexside, collecting books on grimwalkers and having Flapjack find food for him. After seeing his poor living conditions, Gus gives Hunter his sandwich as Principal Bump calls an assembly when Adrian Graye Vernworth, the head of the illusion coven, delivers a decree that all witches must be placed in a coven before the Day of Unity. When Adrian reveals he is going to force the students into covens, Gus unintentionally creates a school wide illusion and Hunter arrives and drags Gus away.
King
After stated he misses knowing who he's supposed to be, Gus says he misses his father and Hunter promises they will get back. Upon hearing him say it, Gus reveals he has been reading Cosmic Frontier books he found in the basement, Hunter also takes an interest in the series after Gus describes a clone character, Chief Engineer O'Bailey. In spite of these lingering emotional insecurities, Hunter's personality tremendously improved during his and his friends' time stranded in the Human Realm, becoming much more cheerful, enthusiastic and somewhat geeky, as he came to enjoy his newfound freedom from Belos' control. Additionally, Hunter also possessed a deep fascination and fondness for many customs and features of the Human Realm, including sewing, wolves and especially the Cosmic Frontier science-fiction series, of which he became a fan of. During his time as the Golden Guard, Hunter acted authoritative and confident in the persona, while praising and advocating for the cause of Emperor Belos.
He, King, and the other teenagers fly to the head where they disable the Abomatons by the Coven Heads and he checks on Darius. When Belos sees him, he pleads with Hunter to not attack him, but becomes enraged upon seeing Flapjack. As the five are about to be killed, they are saved by the Collector, who smashes Belos against a wall, to Hunter's shock. As the Collector approaches them, King arrives and informs them that the Collector wants to play Owl House and the group plays along. After the Collector ends the eclipse, Hunter regains his strength and watches as the Collector reconstructs the skull.
As Luz is about to say what he is, he interrupts her and pulls her aside to say he has yet to tell them he is a grimwalker and does not walk to. After fighting off the guards and liberating the Blight children, they head to the factory. Emira and Edric break away as Gus disguises them as Coven Scouts with King leaving as well. However, Kikimora, who is there picking up Abomatons and is given a new model Abomatron by Odalia, recognizes his voice and the group is soon captured.

Despite Hunter's initial betrayal, Willow is shown to have forgiven him and still consider him her friend, looking forward to his next day off. Willow immediately went on Hunter's Penstagram account, remarking that "he is a slow typer". After he is found by the flyer derby team at Hexside, Hunter struggles to get her and the other students and staff to trust him until Willow vouches for him. After he is believed to be taken by Kikimora, Amity is concerned for him until she learns Luz took his place. The two grow closer during their time in the Human Realm, to the point where Hunter addressed her by her first name instead of her last name.
He soon thinks over himself after he discovers Belos' lies and that he himself is a grimwalker, which leads to him having an emotional mental breakdown. He soon redeems himself after encountering Gus again in Hexside, saving him from Graye, and forming a bond between them. After spending time with Gus trying to escape an illusion, he becomes kinder and more approachable, saving Gus from his mind and telling everyone the truth about Belos.

He appeared in "Hunting Palismen", where he steals a nest of palismen for his uncle in the middle of the night, unaware that Luz is inside the nest. Though he manages to get back on the ship with his staff and even restrain her, Luz uses the grime on the ship's floor to draw an ice glyph, and the resulting icicles knock the staff away. To make matters worse, a hand dragon attacks, causing the ship to crash-land near Latissa. In comparison to his uncle, or any other villain in the series, the Golden Guard is actually quite laid-back, easy-going, chill, and comedic, making quips towards Luz and Eda during their first meeting.

In the end, after realizing the truth of who he really is, he becomes an ally of Luz and helps her escape from Belos. They help Luz fight Belos, when Belos approaches Hunter and tries to trick him into believing that he wanted to help him, but Hunter refuses to believe him, only for Belos to see Flapjack and says the name "Caleb" as he resumes attacking him. When the Collector defeats Belos and begins destroying the Demon Realm, Hunter, Luz, Amity, Willow, and Gus all escape to the Human Realm thanks to King giving himself up, it ends with them landing outside same the old, abandoned house in the Human Realm and the portal back to the Demon Realms closed off. After becoming stranded on the Human Realm, Hunter and the others are offered shelter at Luz's house by Camila. He is thankful for her hospitality and tries to repay her though cooking and sewing. During the Haunted Hayride, Hunter told Luz that he and the group planned a surprise for her in gratitude for all she and Camila did for them.
After they reach the Owl House, Hunter scouts out the parameter as the palismen follow him, much to his annoyance. Soon, he sees the Collector and King on a shooting star flying into Bonesborough and the others head into town. During their conversation, Hunter messes up with the sewing machine, accidentally cutting himself. Hunter describes his time as the Golden Guard as spending most of his training and studying with limited permissions and no time to socialize with others.
When he believes Belos is back, he promised Flapjack he would never allow the little bird to get hurt. After Belos, while possessing him, grievously injured Flapjack, Hunter regained control. After Flapjack sacrificed himself to save Hunter's life after Belos retreated from Hunter's body, he already knew the outcome. Upon returning to the Demon Realm, Hunter has trouble dealing with Flapjack's death. Flapjack's death had caused Hunter to seek revenge on Belos as Hunter continuously wanted to find and eradicate Belos for what he did and avenge Flapjack.
Despite this, he was genuinely appreciative when Amity complied, showing that it was done out of desperation rather than malice. He is described as looking sickly by Emira in "Labyrinth Runners", though this may have been due to his living conditions at the time.
